Getting around: walking, Monorail, bus

The Strip is about 4.2 miles long and its resorts are enormous, so "next door" is often a 10 or 15-minute walk. Distances here are measured on the footpaths, crossings and pedestrian bridges mapped in OpenStreetMap.

Walking distance

Measured from each Strip resort's frontage on Las Vegas Boulevard (downtown: from the property's map point), so add a few minutes to get through a casino to the door you want. Walks over about 2 miles may be quicker by Monorail or bus.

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Monorail runs behind the resorts on the east side of the Strip, between the MGM Grand and the Sahara, with a stop at the Convention Center. It does not serve the west side (Bellagio, Caesars Palace, the Venetian are a walk from the nearest station) or downtown. Station names below are as mapped in OpenStreetMap; distances are along the track from the MGM Grand end.

The Deuce and other buses

The Deuce is the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) bus route along the Strip, running between the South Strip Transit Terminal and Fremont Street Experience, as mapped in OpenStreetMap; it is the line drawn on the map above. We don't reproduce RTC timetables or fares: the RTC's terms reserve its schedules for personal use, so for times, fares and passes go to rtcsnv.com or its rideRTC app.

Walking in the heat

Between May and September the sidewalks, bridges and escalators can be brutal in the afternoon; see heat by month. The bridges at the big intersections (Tropicana, Flamingo, Spring Mountain) mean you rarely cross Las Vegas Boulevard at street level, which adds stairs, escalators and distance.
